Suburban oasis
a breath of fresh air
for body and soul.

This beautiful nature park is a short walk from our house. There are miles of hiking trails across this extinct volcano and lava dome.  We are fortunate here in the Pacific Northwest to have such an amazing variety of green spaces within easy reach of the Portland Metro area.
Depending on the time of day, you might spot a some wild creatures! I’ve encountered deer, coyotes, western gray squirrels, pileated and hairy woodpeckers, western tanagers, Pacific wrens, garter snakes and many more.
Springtime brings a beautiful bouquet of wildflowers across this mountain. I will take photographs as the different flowers come into bloom this season.
Generally, I encounter very few people out on the trails. I like it that way! Quiet, with only the birds singing and the wind rustling through the trees. On clear days, you can often see Mount Hood in the distance from some areas of the park.
No matter what is happening in my life, hiking through in nature park is a cure-all for me!

  1. This is absolutely stunning. Oregon is on a short list of places to relocate in retirement. You are sure building a case for it. Thank you for sharing these lovely photos.

    • Hi LuAnne, thanks for stopping by. Oregon is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever lived! In the 10+ years we’ve been here, the Portland Metro area has grown quite a bit. Our traffic congestion rivals some areas of California and housing costs continue rising.
But, I love the people, the natural beauty all around and our proximity to the coast. The Oregon coast is stunning, and the beaches never crowded!
At this point in my life, I can’t imagine living anywhere else. 😊
