The last two mornings had a definite chill in the air. Fall is arriving! There’s even rain in the forecast. Much of my garden looks heat stressed, despite watering. This summer’s been extremely hot and dry for this area.
Rain will be good, especially for fall planting. What types of flowers are you going to plant this fall?

I wish that I could keep flowers alive but I would love some lavender for inside the house, that relaxing smell and purple pop of color.

Try an orchid, Trudy! They are easy to keep, re-bloom and some are even fragrant. The blossoms often last two to three months. Plus Trader Joe’s sells some really nice ones for not that much money. Lavender is lovely! I’m not sure though if it would be happy inside for the long term. But a balcony with some sun could perhaps work. Have a good weekend! 🙋

Yes, I figured that the lavender could help keep me bug free during the warm months, then relaxed and sleeping well during the Winter. My niece is keeping an orchid alive and I’m positively shocked that she’s been able to since she’s very forgetful.

Orchids are remarkably hardy and forgiving! I have one that gets fragrant around noon when the sunlight hits the window and the plant. 😊

These are stunning photos, Sabine. I will not be planting anything this fall because my gardens are full. We will be moving some irises, though, because they are getting too crowded in one garden.

Same here. Dividing irises and other plants is on my list as well. The photos in this post I took outside the grocery store where I shop. They always have a great assortment of seasonal plants to tempt me. I have however stayed strong so far. I remember your irises from a post, they are truly spectacular. Happy fall LuAnne!

Your flowers are so cheerful. Yes, there is finally a chill in the air at night. I can handle warm days if the nights are cold. Trying to get ready for the rain and was working up on the top terrace this morning hammering in a stake when I got swarmed by those bees in the tree stump in the lower terrace. Got only one sting on the hand but I’m inside hiding now. What to do about them, I don’t know? I don’t know what kind they are but they live in that stump and there were a lot of them. Must get things done before the rain! At least I’m not allergic. Have a great weekend.

Hey Marlene, are you sure they aren’t yellow jackets? Bees normally don’t attack unless provoked. We get some really small bumble bees with reddish markings here. They moved into Misty’s birdhouse and one of them stung her. Be careful!! I’ll send an email this weekend. Enjoy your weekend! 🙋

They were provoked when I was pounding the stake into the ground. Scared them I guess. But there are lots of bees out there today. I’m in for good today. Have a good one.

I don’t think so. They’re probably like you, trying to get as much done as possible before it turns rainy and cold. Your aster looks fantastic. I’ve never been able to grow them like that! 👍
