Meditation in Moments … The Nectar of Clarity

Oregon summer
Harmonious, cool jewel being
A hummingbird, wings heard
Such a light flight, in and out of sight
Fittingly, yet wittingly, zinging not singing
Blossom to blossom, drinking in the nectar
Of each and every moment
Foment enlightenment
Like a finely aged and exquisitely zonal
Zen monk
Wings chanting their favorite flowery mantra
Contra the least amount of worry or hurry
That could ever lie
In this eternity of clarity.

 

 

Every year I wonder why I planted this scraggly cape fuchsia! It’s never looked all that great, and I’ve cut it back to he ground many times. I pulled it out at one point, only to have it reappear in the spring still looking gangly.
The summer arrives and with it the hummingbirds. Turns out that they totally love feeding on this plant and the different hummers get into squabbles over who gets to sip the clearly delicious nectar. Therefore I have made peace with this plant and will simply appreciate what it has to offer all the creatures who enjoy a visiting the ‘Gartenmeister’.

    I don’t think the fuchsia is ugly and if it does nothing else but feed the hummers, you have to keep it. 🙂 Those are really great shots of them. That would be very meditative watching them. Stay cool.

    Wonderful shots of the humming birds! I think the fuchsia is quite pretty, and definitely must be kept to entice those sweet birds. We have quite a lot of birds visiting our garden. They tend to be the colourful parroty kind, but we also have a tiny wren which is charming.

    Cute poem. Gorgeous pictures! I had a similar looking hummer in my hanging basket this morning. Sadly, no photos. However, I just had 4 big bucks walk through the yard, and I live in town! Have a great week, Sabine.
