Dangling by a thread
in between heaven and earth
one leaf’s final dance.
One afternoon late last fall in the garden I noticed this maple leaf hanging from a spider’s thread. A light breeze kept the leaf dancing in circles until a strong gust of wind broke the thread and the leaf pirouetted to the ground.
Have a Zen Sunday!
I have seen a leaf hanging by a spider’s thread but never looked at the way you do. You make it poetic. Great photo catch too. 🙂

Thanks Marlene! I still wonder though how the thread and stem of the leaf made contact. Just seems like it would be difficult for two such minute points to connect. I guess the wonder of nature!

The leaf looks like it’s pirouetting. Very ballerina like. Nice capture, Sabine!

Thanks Missy! I enjoyed watching it and can’t help but wonder how those two connected in midair.

just lovely – a leaf, its levity, then svelte seventeen syllables

Very beautiful little tale Sabine – while I don’t care for spiders, I am always intrigued by the beauty and durability of their webs. I one time watched a spider lure a fly into its web and then spin a cocoon around it and I found myself fascinated with the entire process.

Thanks Linda! I love spiders but hate walking into a web face first!

I know sometimes in August you have those humid mornings and the big spiders start spinning those huge webs and I’d walk into them in the backyard, or while walking in the neighborhood. I’m afraid of spiders – I told Tom Peace that I admired his spider pictures, but could not love spiders because they, like centipedes, move faster than I do. 🙂

Tom does have a great blog and I love his photos too! Spiders and all! 😉

I do too Sabine – I had never seen macro photography before following Tom’s blog. He recommended your blog when I wrote about the Cooper’s Hawk as you had just written about that topic. I hope Marla is progressing with her shoulder replacement – it was a tough year for her.
