I hope you do visit Portland! There’s lots to do in the city, but we also have the mountains, Columbia River Gorge and the Pacific Ocean nearby. Plus there’s Powell’s Books! 🙂 The view from up high is always a treat!

Thanks Tom! It’s been cool and overcast here, but warmer temps are on the way. It’s not going to be anywhere near as hot as where you are. Stay cool! 😎

Wow, what a beautiful city Portland is Sabine. I like the old courthouse as well as the modern building rising into the clouds. It looks like a busy and bustling city and you captured it on a sunny day in all its glory – Mount Hood we can enjoy in your other photos. 🙂

Thanks Linda! Portland is a beautiful city, but I rarely venture downtown these days. Between all the construction, one-way streets, aggressive panhandlers and parking I just stay away unless I absolutely have to go. It’s too bad because there are some interesting things to see and do downtown.

I remember you told me awhile back that the traffic was very busy in the City. Detroit was similar with construction all the time, one-way streets and aggressive panhandlers as well. When we used to go back to visit my grandmother in Toronto, occasionally we would venture downtown by car for my mom’s orthopedic shoe repair. If you could not take the streetcar or a bus where you were going, the traffic was very congested and moved at a snail’s pace and you had to be looking out for the buses and streetcars and all the pedestrians. It was a nightmare! My mother could not climb onto a bus or streetcar, so it left no alternative but to drive. I could not deal with that traffic on a regular basis.

Great photos, you really captured the feel. I grew up in Portland. This post makes me homesick.
