Christmas at the Oregon Garden was cold and foggy, it was icy at times, and then we got a perfect dusting of powdery snow on the morning of our departure. But before we drove off, I dashed out into the garden one last time to photograph the festive dressed-in-white landscape during the winter season.
Winter landscapes might at first appear barren and grey, but there are plenty of color spots if you look closely! I encountered lots of birds throughout the garden. There were ruby-crownded kinglets, varied thrushes, song sparrows, Oregon juncos and spotted towhees. I even spotted a lone hummingbird.
Many of the trees and shrubs throughout the garden were loaded with berries. In addition to looking great in my pictures, they also serve as food for our local bird population.
Another thing I really liked were all the creative bird houses in the garden. I’m sure I missed some!
I hope you enjoyed virtually walking through this winter wonderland with me.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend,
Sabine
Sabine, thank you for sharing the wintery walk. We are having an unseasonably warm winter and I love it. I like experiencing snow and cold through pictures instead of real life. It was a treat. 🙂

I’m glad you came along Anne! It definitely was cold, but nothing compared to the east coast right now.

Great photos, Sabine. I felt like I was there. I really love the birdhouses. I keep wanting to make them and my last husband made several but he kept them all. Those were so pretty I might have carried them home under my coat. 😉

Yes! My sister wants the wooden bench in the secret garden. 😉 I hope you come along some day! There are so many special touches in this place.

Thank you Trudy and happy New Year to you too! I do read your posts, but still have trouble when I try to comment. It won’t even let me ‘like’ the post on the blog, only in the reader. I’ll have to check with WP to see what the problem is. I have a similar issue with a friends Blogspot blog. 😬 I hope it’s not me! 😉 Have a great Sunday and stay warm Trudy!

Your photos are beautiful. It’s very drab and dreary in the UK (as you’d expect), but there are signs of life. Happy days!
