After the holidays I’d been feeling tired and a bit of track. I figured that that, and the severely cold weather which is unusual for us here in Portland, must be to blame. Just as I was starting to get my energy back, I suddenly felt like I had gotten hit by a truck on Saturday!
Fever, chills, violent coughing attacks made me sleep in dressed warmly in layers, yet I was still shivering as if I was outside during the ice storm. And every muscle and bone in my body let me know that they exist. Ouch!!
In addition, I didn’t check my email, WordPress Reader and all the other things I usually do. I look forward to catching up with all of your posts! 🙂
But the real test to how well I am is always whether I make my morning cup of coffee. I just had my first small cup this morning after three days without! That’s a good sign, I’m on the mend!
There are some recipes and travel posts I’ve been working on that I will finish as soon as I feel better. Before getting sick, I made a fantastic Wild Rice and Mushroom Chowder, as well as an incredibly delicious pot of spicy Cajun Black Eyed Pea Soup.
So bear with me while my kitchen is closed! Until my return you can always browse the Tasty Tuesday menu.

Cajun Black Eyed Pea Soup

Sizzling Broccoli and Tomatoes with Pasta

Pumpkin Muffins with Chocolate Chips and Streusel
I was just thinking about you this morning, Sabine, as I hadn’t seen a post from you in a few days. Glad to hear you are on the mend! Get well, soon!

Feel better my dear. I’ve been there multiple times! Getting sick during changing weather does feel like getting hit by a truck and usually the blog is the first to suffer and the last to recover. Just take care of yourself, that’s what is most important. Lots of get well wishes for you!

I’m ok, just feeling sluggish and slight cough. I’m hoping that it’s not bronchitis again, I got it last year and everything suffered because if it.

I will, I think it’s always this time of year because I overindulge on bad holiday foods, so I need to eat more cleanly.

Too much good food during the colder months and I’ve been cooking for family more and they have requests.

I hear you! I’ve been making lots of soups. They make me feel like I’m eating well, especially loaded with vegetables. 😉

Yea I need to get back to that. My niece and nephew wanted pot pies, turkey and a vegetarian mushroom one, and all that the pies that we bought as desserts for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. So much food! And more carbs than I usually handle

This time I was quite disciplined about the sweets. And after Christmas I was actually tired of sweets. I will continue to work on reducing my added-sugar intake. One day at a time Trudy. You can do this!

I’m trying… One day at a time.

I wanted to read your e-mail before commenting here. I’m glad you are better. Stuck on this diet the doctor put me on for 30 days. Otherwise the soup sounds good. I tried to have lunch with the sewing group because Emily cooked and insisted one meal wouldn’t hurt. It did. So glad to see you back.

I just sent you an email. I’m sure glad to be feeling better. This episode made me appreciate my normally very healthy body even more. With the new snow arriving, I will take it as a nod from above to remain home and not start running around to soon.
Take good care of yourself Marlene! I love you! 😘

Hi Sabine! I’m sorry you have been feeling under the weather, and happy to hear you are starting to feel better. 🙂 When there wasn’t a Tasty Tuesday in my email last week, I was imagining you on a delightful trip somewhere fun–not Flu-ville. Hope your health and the weather improves. 🙂

Hi Anne! The health is improving but the weather is a whole other story. We are getting massively snowed in here. I hope to bundle up at some point and go out with my camera. Soup and reading weather! I hope all is well with you! ☃

So Sorry to hear you’ve been ill. So far we are all well. knock on wood! You have snow, we have rain. Our home becomes an island while the floodplain around us become a hang-out for water fowl!

Hi Christine, I’m glad to hear that you guys are doing well. I imagine that Tom watches the water fowl through the spotting scope. That would be fun! Say hello to everyone from us! 😊
