These tiny flying helicopters are so much fun to watch!
And photograph!
Especially when they sit still for a moment or two.

that looks like an adolescent Anna’s Sabine? Might be a female but cannot tell as its throat hasn’t fully formed?
Great shots!

Hey Wayne, I think you’re right! I have several of these juvenile Anna’s in my garden. I’ve been keeping track of from which direction they fly in. There must be several nests nearby as my feeders are busy, but most of the time only one feeds at a time. I wonder why? Your feeder’s always buzzing with activity!

This little bird is all puffed out like he’s keeping warm maybe? I appreciate understanding that it might be a adolescence. I have been seeing hummers with very bright red throats recently, checking out all the flowers. They are very methodical about tasting each flower when there’s lots of blooms. Thanks for the adorable, pictures.

Our Annas’ start nesting early. There are lots of these little ones around and also the males with bright red gorgets. Your flower garden must be heaven for them! 🙋♀️

I love the way you blurred the background, Sabine, and left a little bit of green in the photos. I think that accentuated the hummer’s muted colors.

Thanks LuAnne! Sometimes it all just aligns perfectly: hummers, background and my being there with camera in hand. 😀

All that in only 2 or 3 grams of weight. They are amazing.

That would be so fun to see Sabine – you and Wayne have such fun with your hummingbirds! I wish Hope would stay long enough for me to say “hi” to her. 🙂

Put out your feeder and a chair nearby and just sit and watch. You’ll see you have hummers around there too, Linda!
