Last May, we traveled to Bali! It had been on our destination list for such a looooong time! During our two weeks on the island, we visited temples, a coffee farm, the Bali Bird Park, Kintamani, walked through the rice fields around Ubud, attended several traditional Balinese dances, ate lots of fabulous Balinese food accompanied by Bintang, the favorite local beer. It was blissful!
However, if I were forced to choose my very favorite adventure, I’d have to pick the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud. Ironically it is located at the end of the Monkey Forest Road. Everything in Ubud is within easy walking distance. Once we strolled a little past the entrance, where most people hang out to feed the monkeys and try to get them to jump onto their heads or shoulders for pictures, it got quiet and quite beautiful. Lots of monkeys everywhere! While exploring the entire forest, we came upon a mother and newborn with its umbilical cord still attached. Lush dense greenery, a babbling brook, small temples and swallows performing arial acrobatics in the bright blue sky made for a picture perfect day!

I liked this. The picture of the newborn monkey was magnificent. Now I get to see all your travel pictures with the story behind them. 🙂 I liked all the pictures. This is fun but needs to be shared more widely. Hmmm.
