Spiders are most active in the fall. when they busily spin webs, fatten themselves up and then lay their egg sacks. This ensures that the next generation can hatch the following spring, long after the parent has died.

Isn’t nature just marvelous?!?

  1. I didn’t know spiders were more active in the fall. Thanks for the info. Just the other day I was walking in the nature center near my house on a foggy morning. Spiders had spun webs all through the reeds by the lake. I thought the quantity of webs was due to the fog but maybe it was the season. Good to know.

  2. Amazing, Sabine! Or maybe I should say, amazing spider 😁. The intricacy of their webs is beautiful. They always remind me of tatted lace. Have a great weekend!

    • We got a painting estimate the other day and were told that there is now outdoor paint which contains pesticides. The guy said that way you don’t have to worry about spiders on the house. 😬 I guess he saw all the spiderwebs in my garden. And a few on the house. 😉
