Spiders are most active in the fall. when they busily spin webs, fatten themselves up and then lay their egg sacks. This ensures that the next generation can hatch the following spring, long after the parent has died.
Isn’t nature just marvelous?!?
🙂
I have so many of those around my house and I’m scared of getting one on me. They look so scary. I need to find out more about them.

They’ve been multiplying around here too! I saw a white one with red stripes the other day. In the beneficial department, they are great predators who gobble up pests. 🙋

I understand that but I was bitten on the top of the hill by one that hurt for ages. I leave them alone as much as possible but they get to close to where I have to come and go.

Yes, their bites hurt! I also have heard of people being allergic to them. Leaving them be is probably the smartest thing! Have a wonderful fall weekend Marlene! 🙋

What a coincidence, I just blogged about a spider web I saw in our garden. Your pics are lovely.

Hey Arlene, I just read your post and have to agree that Charlotte’s Web is a great story. One of my favorite children’s books! 🕷

I didn’t know spiders were more active in the fall. Thanks for the info. Just the other day I was walking in the nature center near my house on a foggy morning. Spiders had spun webs all through the reeds by the lake. I thought the quantity of webs was due to the fog but maybe it was the season. Good to know.

I imagine the webs are easier to spot when they’re covered with dew drops! That would have been fun to see! Sounds like a great morning walk!

Amazing, Sabine! Or maybe I should say, amazing spider 😁. The intricacy of their webs is beautiful. They always remind me of tatted lace. Have a great weekend!

The only thing I don’t like about the spiderwebs is walking into one with your face first! Enjoy the perfect autumn weather Missy!

While I love your micro shots, marvelous might not be the word I’d use for spiders…

We got a painting estimate the other day and were told that there is now outdoor paint which contains pesticides. The guy said that way you don’t have to worry about spiders on the house. 😬 I guess he saw all the spiderwebs in my garden. And a few on the house. 😉

Those are nice up-close shots of the spiders – I would be nervous that close to them. I do admire them (from afar) though. 🙂
