 hummingbird baby,
a playful fledgling maybe?
ogling me softly.

Hummingbirds are some of my favorite backyard birds.
What is your favorite backyard bird?

Have a Zen Sunday!

    • Oh! I’ve never seen an Indigo Bunting in person. I’m not sure we get them here. The only birds I don’t care for visiting are pigeons. Occasionally a small flock comes through and I shoo them away.

  1. How gorgeous! My favourite is the long-tailed tit. They look like really fluffy badger babies with wings. They are impossibly round and impossibly cute.

    • Thanks Ali! I just googled the long-tailed tits. I remember them from my childhood in Germany. They also remind me a bit of the bushtits we have here: tiny, round and grey birds in huge flocks! They’re always cheerful and chatter away.

  2. I could barely see a bird much less identify it but hummers are distinct in their flying pattern so you know that’s what they are. You have some amazing shots of a baby! Hope your Sunday is Zen too. I like them all though.

    • Most backyard birds are easy to identify, but shorebirds like sandpipers are a whole other challenge to tell apart. This year we got a number of hummingbird babies in the yard! There were probably some nests nearby! I hope your Sunday is Zen too Marlene! Love the rain as it’s better than the snow my sister woke up to this morning!

      • Snow!!! My son has had 2 snows already but then it goes back to warm for awhile. I need just enough break in the rain for my walk. We just had a massive shower and I don’t want to get caught in one. 😉 Maybe in a few minutes I’ll give it a try. Then on to sewing. Heating the room up a bit before I start. 😉 Have a great day.

  3. The hummers are fascinating to watch, but some of my favorites are the little nuthatches that flit around the yard. BTW, great photos! Happy Sunday to you, my friend!

    Super images as always.
