A couple of weeks ago, I got a phone call from the Old McDonalds Farm in Corbett, Oregon. I had won not one, but two prizes in a raffle benefiting this fabulous organization. Homesteaded first in 1919, this 68 acre raspberry farm in the Columbia […]

Zunday Zen … Please! Stop and smell the Roses
Take time to smell the roses! It’s so easy to forget. Sometimes, chores should wait! Busy, busy, busy. “I can relax tomorrow!” All too often tomorrow never comes! Nothing should be more important then to make a little time for yourself! A moment in your day where you […]
Fabulous Fermentation Festival in Portlandia …
Last Sunday I attended the Oregon Fermentation Festival. It was held at Kruger’s Farm on Sauvie Island, just north of Portland. Approximately the size of Manhattan, it is one of the largest river islands in the U.S., with lots of open space, parks, farms, natural areas for migrating […]

A visit from a friend last week reminded me of how easy it is to neglect exploring one’s “own backyard”. It had been a while since I had ventured out to the Gorge. Along the historic Columbia River Highway are vast forests of moss and lichen covered trees, […]
Sometimes, I just can’t decide.
There probably are as many different opinions and views on creativity, as there are on life. Regardless of whether one’s preference of the landscape or portrait mode, personal taste is, well, personal. For me, there is no right or wrong. Sometimes, I simply just can’t […]
Solitude
Solitude: Alone, but not lonely. Splashing waves, screaming gulls, cool briny air, secluded beach hidden behind sandy dunes. Quietly exploring nature.
Oak Meadow in Winter
This was a quiet, crisp winter morning, with fluffy white clouds floating across the sky. The beautiful reflections of the oak trees in the flooded meadows made me want to sit and meditate. Only occasional sounds of robins taking a bath could be heard.
Ice Storm 2014
Last February we had some snow which was followed by an ice storm. The quiet was only interrupted by the cracking sounds of the ice covering the snow. Everything was covered in ice, making for a most beautiful winter day. While exploring outside, I […]
